Don’t forget your castles

You’re in a meeting and spot the moment when the one topic you wanted to discuss would have fitted.
Shifting conversation feels pushy and you don’t want to sound like you’re forcing the agenda, so you let it pass.
When the meeting concludes, you leave without having made your point.
Most of us have done this countless times, often afraid that people will think we’re dominating conversation.
In reality, those who can skillfully shape the agenda leave the room looking competent and authoritative.
Think of it like a castle on the horizon.
These days, castles are clear landmarks, visible from miles around. They’re easy to navigate towards.
When someone introduces an idea and takes conversation intentionally towards it, it gives the meeting shape – and it makes the speaker more memorable.
This week’s newsletter is about why speaking with that kind of intention actually makes you sound more competent, not less collaborative.
